Two weeks ago, I was invited by Aristocrat MedAesthetics to come in for a chemical peel. It’s something that I’ve heard great things about but have never tried myself! A chemical peel is a combination of acids that get applied to dissolve the top layer of skin to help initiate new cell renewal. Your skin peels for the first few days afterwards but once it’s done, you’re left glowing and radiant. Read more to learn more about my entire experience!
Essentially, the chemical peel sloughs off dead skin cells and forces your body to make new cells. It helps with pores, texture and oiliness and can even help with pigmentation and fine lines/wrinkles over time.
I have to admit I was a little nervous at first when I first got into the office. I’m the biggest baby and have zero pain tolerance! The chemical peel is applied in layers and it does burn a little, but I had a little fan to blow cool air, which definitely helps. The burning also doesn’t last long and goes away after a few minutes.
My skin didn’t start peeling until 2 or 3 days after the peel. It starts around the mouth and works its way up and out. I was definitely a little self conscious during the heavy bulk of the peeling but it wasn’t horrible. I even went out to dinner with my boyfriend’s entire family as half my face was peeling off, haha.
Ten days after the peel, my skin was seriously glowing. I visited home for a weekend and my mom commented on how great my skin looked!
A special thank you to Louisa and the entire Aristocrat team for being so friendly and warm during the process! I received a complimentary chemical peel in exchange for posting about my experience.
