Is Sephora VIB Rouge Worth It?

Sephora has a loyalty program for customers who spend over $1,000 during the calendar year called VIB Rouge. I’ve been a Sephora VIB Rouge member for two years now and the question I always get asked is: Is VIB Rouge worth it? What are the perks? How do I become a VIB Rouge member?

Sephora’s loyalty program has three tiers:

The first tier is called Beauty Insider and anyone can become a member, all they have to do is create an account. Perks include a free birthday gift and free beauty classes.

The next tier is called VIB, which you become a member of when you hit $350 in purchases during the year. Perks include everything that you get as a Beauty Insider plus access to seasonal savings and a free custom makeover. Sometimes, you also get special promo codes to redeem for gift with purchases.The last tier is VIB Rouge, the tier you have to spend $1,000 for. Perks include everything from the two tiers plus free 2-day Flash Shipping, a VIB Rouge sale and a private customer service hotline. Sephora also advertises that Rouge members get “invitations to exclusive events” but I have honestly never heard about these exclusive events and I’ve been a member for two years now.

Sephora VIB Rouge Perks

In my opinion, these are the actual perks of being a Sephora VIB Rouge member: when you finally hit the $1,000 in purchases, you get a gift. The first year I hit the number I received a mini Marc Jacobs lipstick with a shade I believe is exclusive for Rouge members. This year, I received a mini NARS blush. The two things that I love about the membership is the free Flash 2-day shipping and the private hotline. I’m a Sephora addict so I love that I have 2-day shipping with no minimum. I’ve also used the private hotline a few times whenever I have issues with my orders and it is always resolved very quickly. My favorite part is probably getting promo codes for gift with purchases. Usually the promotion requires you to spend $35 in order to get a gift with purchase that is a trio of products. I’ve gotten trios from Hourglass, Yves Saint Laurent and even AmorePacific as gifts with my purchases. However, VIB gets the exact same promo code so this perk is for both VIB and VIB Rouge members.

Is Sephora VIB Rouge Worth It?

My answer is that it’s not worth it to purposely try to hit. However, Sephora occasionally runs promotions where they offer 2x or 3x the amount of points per purchase. Usually $1 = 1 point so you need 1000 points to hit VIB Rouge. If you spend during the 3x promotion, you could hit VIB Rouge with only $334. But, like I said before, I don’t think VIB Rouge is something that is worth purposely trying to reach. If it happens, it happens.
