It’s no secret that little beauty product vials are one of my favorite things to collect, especially when it comes to fragrances! I’ve accumulated quite a collection of travel friendly perfume vials, mainly from fragrance discovery sets like this one from Maison Francis Kurdjian or this one from Tokyomilk.
I love fragrance discovery sets because they allow you to sample a variety of different scents. Scents react differently on skin than on paper and a perfume can smell subtly different on different people. It’s so interesting! These vials are all substantial enough for multiple uses, unlike tiny perfume samples. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore perfume samples and even wrote an entire guide on them but travel fragrance vials are better for longer term use.
The packaging of the Maison Francis Kurdjian discovery set is absolutely beautiful. Opening it felt like unwrapping the most luxurious present. How beautiful is the packaging of the vials themselves? They were just made to be displayed – I have them all showcased at the top of my beauty cabinet. Out of all of the scents, my favorite is A La Rose. (Of course it’s the rose scent, I have a weakness for anything rose-scented!) It has top notes of rose damascena from Bulgaria, bergamot from Calabria and orange from California. Middle notes include violet and magnolia blossom. It’s a sweet but not overly sweet scent because of the woody cedar and musk accord. Overall, the notes all blend together so well and the scent evolves over the course of the day.
Honestly, all four of these rollerballs smell really good. My favorite would have to be La Vie La Mort. I tend to gravitate towards floral scents and this one smells just like a bouquet of flowers in bloom. The notes include jasmine and white tuberose with a touch of hibiscus leaf and cardamom.
I received this super cute Byredo Mojave Ghost Travel Fragrance Vial in the goodie bag from the Glossier rep meetup. In my opinion, Byredo Mojave Ghost smells like the older sister of Marc Jacobs Daisy. It’s funny because my younger sister actually wears Marc Jacobs Daisy and I’ve been wearing a lot of Byredo Mojave Ghost lately. It smells sweet but green and has notes of ambrette, violet, sandalwood, magnolia, amber and cedarwood.
Unfortunately the label of my Rose Geranium Rollerball Fragrance from The Stell x Soul Sunday collab fell off but the scent is still good as ever! It has notes of rose, geranium and neroli – nice, light and floral. I love that it is made up of essential oils in a base of jojoba and coconut oil. It’s cited as being a romantic and fresh natural fragrance for the modern woman and I couldn’t agree more. I even included it in my top five favorite product discoveries of March! Just a side note, the rollerball does leak a little when it’s on its side so just make sure you are always keeping it upright!
I’m still working on building out the rest of my collection! I’m thinking about adding more Byredo and Le Labo vials to the mix. Any fragrance recommendations of your own?
