A few weeks ago I popped into the Ulta Beauty store on the Upper East Side and picked up some beauty essentials for spring. I seriously love visiting the store because there’s a huge range of products and brands from all categories and price points. There’s something for everyone! Plus, it’s so fun to swatch different shades and test textures. I always leave with my hands covered in lipstick, eyeshadow and eyeliner, haha! Another amazing thing is that every store has a full-service salon with hair, skin and brow services. It’s a one-stop shop and I had the best time shopping. Read more for my complete haul!
This was my first time trying Colourpop after years of hearing soooo many great things about the brand. Everyone was saying I needed to get the eyeshadows and I can see why. The formula is amazing – it’s super creamy and pigmented. I couldn’t believe how affordable the products. After testing out all the different shades in the store, I decided on two Super Shock Eyeshadows, Amaze and Lightning Bug.
Amaze is described as a peachy gold with ultra-glitter finish.
Lightning Bug is described as a golden copper with ultra-glitter finish.
I think they would look amazing worn together, which is partially why I bought both.
I also picked up a Make Waves Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow from the new Beauty by PopSugar line. I got the shade Fierce AF, which is a gold shimmery metallic. It starts off as a liquid but dries fast on the eyelid. One of the benefits is that it has all-day wear with no creasing, which is definitely a win for me because I have double eyelids.
Are you sensing a pattern in the eyeshadow shades I’m drawn to? I think they are so flattering on everyone and bring an extra layer of depth to the face.
Obsessed with these shimmery warm metallic tones. I’m all about the sparkle for spring!
My skin gets oily throughout the day so I can’t live without blotting papers. I love these Be Matte Beauty Papers from the Beauty by PopSugar line. There are even little gold flakes imbedded into the paper and the size is perfect to throw into my purse to use on the go.
While I love makeup, skincare will always be my number one so I picked up a few of my favorite products from Clinique. The Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes + Lips is important because it makes it easy to remove my sparkly eyeshadow at the end of the day. The Fresh Pressed System and the Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator work hand in hand for bright, dewy skin. You add a few drops of the Fresh Pressed Daily Booster to the moisturizer in the mornings to give it an added boost.
I’ve talked in the past about how much I loved Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief from Clinique. This Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator is the new and improved version. As the name suggests, it keeps the skin hydrated for 72 hours, even after washing your face. The texture is lightweight but still hydrating and keeps the skin plump all day.
I’ve mentioned this in the past but one of my resolutions was to focus more on body care. We spend so much attention on our face and often end up neglecting the rest of our body. I picked up these two body bars from the Ulta Beauty Body Smarts Collection. I can’t wait to use Energizing Wild Mint Treatment Body Bar in the morning and Moisturizing Shea Butter Treatment Body Bar in the evening. Definitely want to try more from their line!
In sum, my essentials for spring are shimmery metallic eyes, fresh + dewy skin and a focus on bodycare. What are your spring beauty essentials?
