I noticed recently that I have a ton of blue and purple hued skincare. Often times blue or purple ingredients have calming properties.  Popular examples include blue tansy, blue chamomile and indigo. I have quite sensitive skin & struggle with eczema so I guess I just gravitate towards these soothing products. Klairs Blue Midnight Calming Cream

I’ve raved about this product so much to everyone. It’s one of my all time favorites/holy grail items and I even have an entire post dedicated to it. You can find my detailed review here. The blue hue is due to guaiazulene in the formula, an ingredient known for its calming properties.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

This product does exactly what the name suggests. It is a super lightweight blue anti-aging product with a watery formula. Because it’s so light, I apply a couple drops right after I cleanse and tone my face. It sinks right into the skin and absorbs completely without a weird residue. Like the blue calming cream, this contains guaiazulene in the formula, giving it a blue tint. It also contains blueberry extract!

Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Body Butter

This one is the light blue lotion in the large dark purple tub towards the top of the above image. I first tried the travel sized one which was only $12 and liked it enough to buy the full sized version. It’s rich in Japanese indigo which is a botanical known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and gives the body butter its pretty hue. It also supports skin’s natural healing abilities. Because of the skin healing and soothing properties of this body butter, it’s perfect for anyone who has eczema, like me. I slather it everywhere after I shower when my skin is still slightly damp.

Tatcha Indigo Smoothing Black Sugar Body Gommage

This was a recent addition to my shower routine and now I can’t live without it. A lot of shower products irritate my eczema but this one is super soothing because of the Japanese indigo and camellia oil. The black sugar in this is from the nutrient-dense shores of tropical Okinawa and leaves your skin super, super smooth and soft.

My Own Creation

That tiny little blue-green vial in the corner of the above picture is my own creation! I love playing around with essential oils and coming up with my own formulations. After a ton of experiments, I’ve found the perfect balance of oils for calming inflamed skin that is in need of nutrients. I use a blend of blue chamomile, yarrow, squalane (read why squalane is such a magical ingredient here) and a couple other nutrient rich oils. Lightweight so it absorbs easily into the skin.

Herbivore Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Mask

This mask has a star ingredient, the beloved blue tansy oil. Blue tansy is naturally high in azulene which soothes irritated skin and reduces redness. It also contains white willow bark and fruit enzymes that gently exfoliate the skin and unclog pores. I use this when I feel like I’m starting to break out and it definitely helps. The texture is so fun (jelly-like) and it smells so good!!

Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask

This mask from Tatcha is their newest release. I picked up this deluxe sample as a gift with purchase from a recent Sephora order. I’ve only had the chance to use it a few times so far but the texture is so creamy. It’s an anti-aging mask but also treats dark spots and uneven skin tone which is good because I’m always dealing with dark spots from acne scars. Some key ingredients include Japanese beautyberry, two types of vitamin C and AHAs from seven fruits!

Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask

Another mask! This one is lighter in hue than all the others and was made with blemish prone skin in mind. It’s a salicylic acid overnight gel-mask which brightens and smooths the complexion. I usually use this around once a week at night and wash it off in the morning.

Herbivore Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment

Last but not least is this pretty lilac colored overnight cream from Herbivore. The packaging for this is so cute and it’s been on my wishlist since they released. I finally picked it up a few weeks ago! It’s rich in antioxidants from prickly pear, goji berry and red raspberry seed. Some of the acne treatments I use are quite drying so I use this when I need an extra boost of hydration.
