For the longest time, I never wore eye shadow. I would pretty much only wear eyeliner. While that’s still my go-to for fancy occasions, my daily eye look now consists of only eyeshadow. I don’t really wear eyeliner or mascara as often anymore because I am too lazy at night to go through that whole makeup removal process! Anyways, liquid eyeshadows have been a favorite of mine recently and I’m so glad that Glossier recently released their new Lidstar line. Read more for swatches of all six shades + a discount!
According to Glossier, Lidstar is a one-step eye enhancement that lights up lids with a wash of soft, glistening color. It’s kind of a sheer, illuminating eyeshadow. The silky formula is made up of a delicate proportion of multicolor pearls suspended in coated pigments in a buttery base.
Herb: smoky green with yellow gold pearl
Fawn: cool, smoky taupe with violet and neutral gold pearls
Cub: rose gold with warm shimmer effect
Slip: sheer baby pink with golden highlight effect
Moon: sheerest cream base with blueish opalescent glimmer
Lily: sheer lilac base with blue and violet pearls
I feel like each shade has its own personality. My faves are either Fawn or Cub. Moon is great for the inner corners of the eyes.
I grabbed these swatches from Glossier’s Instagram story!
From Top to Bottom: Herb, Fawn, Cub, Slip, Moon, Lily
One of the biggest perks of Lidstar is that it is so easy to use. All you have to do is dab the doe foot applicator onto clean lids (you don’t need a primer!) and use your fingertips to blend. You can go back with the doe foot and add additional color where you want more coverage and pigment.
Once it dries, it locks onto the lids in a soft veil that lasts for 12 hours. Seriously, no creasing, fading or smudging. I have double eyelids so eyeshadow creases really easily on me but I love that this doesn’t. I know some people have had concerns over how hard it was to remove but I’ve used both cleansing oils and cleansing balms and have had no issues with makeup removal.
The shades are also all pretty complementary with one another are good to blend and use together. I think Herb and Fawnlook amazing together.
Also a big fan of Moon and Slip together, as pictured on Coco!
In the image above, Rosie Hungtinton-Whiteley wore lidstar in Fawn at the outer edge of the eye and Moon on the inner corners. So stunning.
