What if we treated our scalp like we treated our skin? I’m a big believer that healthy hair starts with the scalp. As someone who has struggled with skin issues all of my life, it’s no surprise that I’ve also struggled with a dry, irritated scalp. Once I started taking care of my scalp with the same level of care as my skin, I noticed a dramatic difference in the quality of my hair. Today I’m sharing the three tips I used to improve my scalp health for healthier hair using Rooted Rituals products. If you’re also struggling with scalp issues or are looking for ways to improve your hair, this is for you!
We accumulate so much build-up on our scalp without even realizing it! For me personally, I love dry shampoo maybe a little *too* much. Like the skin, the scalp needs exfoliation to get rid of all the product build-up + dead skin cells. I like to use the Rooted Rituals Quick Rinse Scalp Scrub once a week before I shampoo, as proper exfoliation helps boost the skin cell turnover process. It’s a gentle and non-stripping exfoliator that keeps my scalp in tip-top shape.
In my esthetician training, we learned about the countless benefits of massage on the skin and those same benefits apply to the scalp. I love to pair the Quick Rinse Scalp Scrub with the Root Rejuvenating Scalp Massager as a luxurious treat. A scalp massage helps increase blood flow and circulation, promoting scalp health. While blood’s most commonly-known role is transporting oxygen, it also nourishes the tissues with necessary nutrients. Massage in small, circular motions and enjoy!
Once you’ve done the cleansing, it’s important to seal the moisture in. I like to think of this as the “serum + moisturizer” segment of scalp care. The Cooling and Strengthening Tonic from Rooted Rituals contains ginger root + Vitamin E which strengthens the hair, while also improving the scalp moisture barrier over time. All you need is a few drops for each section of your head. I like to use it right after I get out of the shower but you can also use it on dry hair. For something more deeply hydrating, the Multi-Task Leave On Mask is like an amazing thick, rich cream for the scalp. It makes my hair feel so soft and shiny.
When you treat your scalp like your skin, you’ll see amazing results. Our scalp is the foundation to healthy hair. It begins at the roots! You can find Rooted Rituals products at Walmart.
