Pat McGrath is arguably the most influential and well-respected makeup artist of this time. She’s responsible for crafting innovative runway and editorial looks closer to the lines of art than makeup. One of her signature looks is glowy, lit-from-within skin. Through her company, Pat McGrath Labs, she just released Skin Fetish 003, a three-piece kit for achieving that perfect glow. I was able to grab both colors, Nude and Golden. According to Pat McGrath, Skin Fetish 003 is a “transformative kit of backstage secrets for skin fully sublime skin.” Each kit comes packaged in her signature pouch filled with couture sequins and includes a pressed pigment, a two-sided highlighter + balm duo and a buffer brush made in Japan.
Golden is warmer toned and as the name suggests, a gold.
Nude is cooler toned and described as an opal with pinky lavender undertones. McGrath insists that both shades work on all skin tones.

The demand for Skin Fetish 003 was so large that the website crashed multiple times during the launch, even at the price point of $72. The product lives up to the hype. The highlighter manages to be glossy but not shimmery. McGrath says that it’s because “the formula is actually a gel, which is so different from the typically metallic or white shade…it’s really tapping into that lit-from-within look instead of looking like you’ve got talc or mica that’s in the way of your skin.” She wanted it to blend into the skin instead of looking like powder on top of the skin.
McGrath recommends using the products in three ways. For a fresh, editorial glow, swipe balm onto high points of skin. Flip the stick and use the highlighter to elevate your bone structure. For runway radiance, apply highlighter followed by balm pressed on top. To go all the way, buff the pigment over the Shiny Stick duo for an aliengelic gleam of otherworldly opulence. The products aren’t just limited to the face. She says to “lavish light anywhere on the face and body. Brighten brow bones, corners of eyes. Dramatize décolletage. Glorify shoulders.”
Skin Fetish 003 ($72) is currently sold out at patmcgrath.com but will be available at Sephora starting on May 10th.
