Tatcha released a new product recently, the Essence! It’s a resurfacing softener made up of Japanese superfoods that makes the rest of your skincare work better and more effectively. I picked up this cute little deluxe sample in my most recent Tatcha order. Read more for a detailed Tatcha The Essence review, a quick seven second ritual!
The Essence is 98.7% Hadasei-3, Tatcha’s specialty blend of nutrients. This includes Green Tea, Rice and Algae for skin health and radiance. The nutrients are fermented, which produces lactic acid. Lactic acid helps with cell turnover, skin texture and skin appearance. The Essence also provides necessary hydration, helping the skin appear more plump and supple. The real winner for me was that The Essence maximizes the performance of all skincare. It creates a pathway which delivers treatments more deeply and amplifies the effectiveness.
I wanted to look more closely at the Hadasei-3 nutrient blend of Green Tea, Rice and Algae. Green tea is often called liquid jade because of its health benefits – it is used in skincare to detoxify and prevent premature aging. The rice is Akita rice, known for its premium quality. The rice Tatcha uses is Japanese rice bran, known for its skin soothing enzymes and antioxidant properties. It is rich in inositol and gamma oryzanol, potent antioxidants and nourishing moisturizers. It contains vitamins A, B2, B12 and E. Okinawa Red Algae is a rich source of natural polysaccharides. Polysaccharides enhance the skin’s barrier function and replenish the skin’s natural water reservoir, increasing its moisture-retention capabilities. Overall, after looking into these ingredients, I’m happy with the nutrients that The Essence provides.
I use this twice a day, after I cleanse and before any other skincare. Essences don’t require cotton pads so I just pour a palmful into my hand and press it gently into my skin. I put it on both my face and my neck. The skin on your neck is just as delicate as the skin on your face so it’s important to take care of it!
The consistency of The Essence is very thin, almost water-like. Because of that, it absorbs into skin very quickly. There is no distinguishable fragrance, which is great for people with sensitive skin or anyone who is sensitive to scents, like I am.
While this is only a deluxe sample size, I’m happy to add this into my routine. I believe that long term use of The Essencewill definitely improve my overall skin health, especially since Japanese women have been using essences for generations.
