Play! by Sephora is a beauty subscription box featuring a curation of five deluxe samples (plus a fragrance bonus) for $10 a month. It’s basically Sephora’s version of Birchbox or Ipsy, but with a couple of bonuses. Read more for the reveal and my thoughts on the subscription box!

I’ve only tried Birchbox once and have never tried Ipsy, but once I learned about Sephora Play! I immediately signed up for the waitlist. I learned earlier this month that I was taken off the waitlist so I immediately paid and subscribed to my first box.

Play! is different from Birchbox and Ipsy in several ways. The first difference is the fragrance bonus – in addition to the five deluxe samples, Sephora’s box also comes with a perfume sample. I collect perfume samples (there’s a reason my Instagram handle is @collectionofvials, haha) so I love that they do this! The box also comes with a card which allows you to go into a store and get a free one-on-one tutorial for advice customized to you. Another bonus, the one I’m most excited about, is something called a Sephora PLAY! DATE. Basically, it’s an event in one of the Sephora stores where you get to meet fellow subscribers and get tips from Sephora’s experts. I signed up for the July event which takes place this week and am excited to go!

I was really happy about all of the products in this month’s box but the product I was most excited about was the OUAI Wave Spray. OUAI was started by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin and I keep seeing the products mentioned everywhere! I’ve wanted to try out OUAI’s products for a while so I was really excited that I finally had a chance to through Play.
